P.O. John Silinsky

Yonkers Police Officer Silinsky was appointed a police officer on December 1, 1954. Officer Silinsky was a 28-year veteran who had served in many assignments in the department.  He was very active in the P.B.A. for years and was very popular. On September 26, 1982 while off duty, Officer Silinsky foiled a robbery attempt and was shot in the head. Four days later on September 30 1982, he died. Police Officer Silinsky was 58 years old and left behind a wife, two children, and two grandchildren. "Lest We Forget"
