Deputy Mayor Steve Levy
Steven J. Levy currently serves as Deputy Mayor for the Mayor of the City of Yonkers, NY, under Mayor Mike Spano. Levy brings over 15 years of government and public affairs experience to Mayor Spano’s administration.
Levy served as the Deputy Commissioner for the Westchester County Board of Elections for six years. There, Levy was instrumental in training and guiding a staff of over 70 full-time and part-time employees, while managing special projects and handling procedural changes in election law. Additionally, Levy spent time as the Chief of Staff for New York State Senator Nick Spano, where he analyzed policy and financial issues, and all aspects of state legislative grant initiatives and requests. Levy also acted as Chief of Staff for the Office of the Westchester County Clerk, serving as the liaison for the County Clerk and a three-division staff of over 100 employees, managing all financial and operational duties.
Recently, Levy served as a Dean of Discipline and teacher of Physical Education at the Mott Haven Education Campus in Bronx, NY where not only did he interact with students, parents, teachers and administrators regarding student discipline and behavioral issues, but also provided creative teaching lessons and opportunities for physical activity in the community. Previously, Levy was a Senior Associate for Empire Strategic Planning where, on a federal, state and local level, he advocated legislative, regulatory and budgetary initiatives for key clients.
Levy graduated Magna Cum Laude from State University of New York College at Oswego with a B.S. in Political Science and earned a Masters in Physical Education from Manhattanville College. Levy is a longtime resident of Westchester County and currently resides in Yonkers, NY with his wife.
