Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano convened the Yonkers 2020 Complete Count Committee. The Yonkers 2020 Complete Count Committee is comprised of a broad spectrum of government and community leaders from education, business, faith-based, and other community organizations. These individuals will develop and implement a 2020 Census awareness campaign based upon their knowledge of the local community to encourage a response. The Committee will also help connect local residents with Census job opportunities currently available.

In March 2020, the Census Bureau will begin mailing invitations to respond to nearly every household in the country. Each household will have the option of responding online, by mail or by phone.  April 1, 2020 marks Census Day, when Complete Count Committees urge households who did not respond to take the census survey, assuring them it’s safe, easy and important.

Mandated by the U.S. Constitution, the census counts every resident in United States every decade. The information acquired effects state representation in Congress and federal funding distribution to states and local communities.
