We’ve expanded hours at the new Yonkers Animal Shelter. We’re open from
11:00 am to 4:00 pm seven days a week so you can adopt your next pet at the
Yonkers Animal Shelter.
Designed by architect Welles Bosworth nearly 100 years ago, the 43-acre public park and gardens is one of the finest examples of a Persian Garden in the Western Hemisphere. The gardens, fountains and statues of Untermyer have undergone a restoration by the Parks Department and the Untermyer Gardens Conservancy.
It’s boating season on the Hudson River and you can launch kayaks, canoes and motorized boats from JFK Marina with a daily or seasonal permit.

Yonkers Parks is an approved training provider for the StarFish Swimming program. We offer everything from swimming lessons for children as young as six months old to competitive swimming for teens and swim clubs for adults.
From Yonkers Recreational Pier to top-notch restaurants, waterfront parks, jazz and blues at the amphitheater and the award-winning daylighted Saw Mill River at Van der Donck Park, there’s something for everyone at Yonkers’ Historic Waterfront.
From group exercise to bingo to socialization, our 13 Senior Centers offer something for everyone. Senior Center membership is free of charge for Yonkers residents ages 60 and over.
