About the Assessment Department
The City of Yonkers Assessment Department is a team of appraisal, technical and administrative professionals, responsible for establishing the assessed value for all property within our municipal boundaries. As property tax professionals:
The Assessment Department produces an annual Assessment Roll reflecting change in property condition, ownership, boundaries, and exemption status.
The Assessment Department strives to ensure the most equitable results from Board of Assessment Review, Small Claims Assessment Review and Certiorari challenges.
The Assessment Department provides property information to the general public, private industry and government entities.
By performing these functions within the confines of NYS Real Property Tax Laws and Rules for Real Property Tax Administration and the Administrative Code of the City of Yonkers, the City of Yonkers Assessment Department establishes the base for the city's largest annual revenue source.

We encourage anyone filing for an exemption, including Basic STAR, Enhanced (Senior) STAR, Veteran, Senior Citizen, and Disability exemptions or submitting an exemption renewal application to submit their application as soon as possible, ideally on or before September 15 of each year.

NOTE: It is this Department's policy that applications, forms and anything else sent by email required to be received by a deadline should be emailed five (5) days in advance of the deadline so receipt can be confirmed by email a day or more before the deadline.
