Mike Khader is a proud life-long resident of Yonkers. He ran for City Council President because he knows that we can do better. The pride that the people of Yonkers have in our community is unparalleled. Our strong values and commitment to our neighbors are the tools we need to improve our City. Mike is a man who can put a fresh perspective on how to meet the challenges of now and the future.
Mike will govern for us because he’s one of us. A true product of the American dream, Mike’s parents came to America as immigrants with nothing but the hope that their children would work hard, get educated, and give back to the country that welcomed them with open arms. Now is Mike’s chance to see their dream accomplished by serving the City of Yonkers. a city full potential, as he calls it.
He’s a product of public schools and a proud public school parent; a homeowner who understands the difficulties our residents are faced with.
Mike is a proud graduate of Lincoln High School class of 1994. Growing up with an interest in public service, particularly law and public safety, Mike later attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice and went on to earn his law degree from Western New England School of Law. He now has a law office in Yonkers.
But years after 9/11, Mike decided to lay aside his successful law career to serve the public in one of the greatest honors of his life – working in the Central Intelligence Agency’s National Clandestine Service and obtaining a top secret clearance.
After proudly serving, Mike returned to Yonkers where he resumed his legal career with the love and support of his wife and three beautiful children.
Mike wants what we all want for our City, so he is returning to public service as Council President. Our city is a beautiful place to live, work, and raise a family but we face mounting challenges in our City’s ability to meet its basic services: ensuring safe streets, providing top quality schools, creating jobs, protecting seniors and improving our quality of life.
Mike is eager to step up to these challenges. He knows how to stand up in a fight, and will always put our values first.
