YONKERS, NY – April 6, 2020 – Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced the city’s Department of Planning & Development will become a resource in assisting Yonkers local businesses and nonprofits impacted by COVID-19 as they apply to the new CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief & Economic Security) Act, a new federal program which provides billions in relief for small businesses.
“Applying to these new programs can often be burdensome and overwhelming for many,” said Mayor Spano. “Now more than ever, we want to ensure our local businesses are shown the pathway and given the tools needed to navigate this storm created by COVID-19. Together, we can strengthen and restore our small business community.”
Small businesses and nonprofits which would like to inquire about the CARES Act can contact the Yonkers Small Business Center for one-on-one assistance on the SBA Application at firstname.lastname@example.org
or at 914-343-4113.
As part of the comprehensive CARES Act, more than $375 billion has been designated in small business relief, including $349 billion for forgivable loans to small businesses to pay their employees and keep them on the payroll; $17 billion for debt relief for current and new Small Business Association borrowers; and $10 billion in immediate disaster grants.
