Census Day: Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano Encourages Residents to take 2020 Census
YONKERS, NY – April 1, 2020 – Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today, Census Day, released a video message encouraging Yonkers residents to participate in the 2020 Census. The video message will air online on the city’s and Mayor's social media accounts, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, @CityofYonkers, @MayorMikeSpano and on www.yonkersny.gov.
"On this Census Day, we cannot lose focus in making sure Yonkers Counts in the 2020 Census," said Mayor Mike Spano. "The importance of knowing that Yonkers recovery of the COVID-19 pandemic is assisted by a complete count of all our residents should further motivate all of us to fill it out."
“The 2020 Census is critical for every city in America, but mid-sized cities like Yonkers, depend on it a bit more because of the tens of millions of dollars at risk for programs and services we use every day, including schools, hospitals and our representation in Congress,” added Mayor Spano. “I ask that you use this time to answer the Census. I hope you will join me in sharing this video message and taking part in the 2020 Census."
Invitations to participate in the 2020 Census have been mailed to every household in the country. Each household will have the option of responding online, by mail or by phone (1-844-330-2020).
