City of Yonkers to Provide Free Paint Recycling
YONKERS, NY – July 19, 2019 – Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, along with the Department of Public Works, today announced curbside pick-ups will be available for unused household paint on Thursday, July 25th.
“Yonkers continues to lead the way in sustainability efforts and recycling is a big component of that,” said Mayor Mike Spano. “Making recycling and trash disposal as easy as possible for our residents through home pickups is a great way to continue our green suitability efforts. I encourage our residents to utilize this valuable service.”
On Thursday, July 25th, residents may place up to five gallons of dried paint curbside for pick up by city crews. Paint MUST be dried with the covers off. Paint can be made solid by mixing sand, sawdust or kitty litter until it is solid.
Residents must call the Mayor’s Help Line at (914) 377-HELP to make an appointment for pickup. It is also encouraged to bring these items to the City’s Recycling Center located at 735 Saw Mill River Road in Yonkers from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Saturday. This service is available to all residents who can provide proof of Yonkers residency and live in a building with 6 units or less.
