YONKERS, NY –January 28, 2019 – Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced that the City’s Office for the Aging together with the Will Branch of the Yonkers Public Library will offer a TAX-AIDE program from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is a program that allows for low to moderate income taxpayers to have more discretionary income for everyday essentials, such as food and housing, by assisting with tax services and ensuring that those taxpayers receive applicable credits and deductions. AARP membership is not required for this free service.

“Paying your taxes can be a stressful and confusing process and we want to make sure we give every effort to provide our senior residents with all of the aid that they qualify for,” said Mayor Mike Spano. “This tax aide program is designed to assist seniors every step of the way.”

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is free for taxpayers with low and moderate income, with special attention paid to those 60 and older. Through assistance by a team of trained volunteers, this program helped nearly 1,200 low to moderate income individuals last tax season.
