YONKERS, NY – October 25, 2018 – In anticipation of flooding due to the expected nor’easter storm this weekend, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced that the City’s Department of Public Works (DPW) will provide sand bags for residents who live in low lying areas. Residents can pick up sand bags on Friday, October 26 from 7AM-7PM and Saturday, October 27 from 7AM-3PM at the Yonkers Organic Waste Yard at located at 610 Nepperhan Avenue in the City of Yonkers.

“Due to the high amounts of rainfall expected over the course of the next couple of days, I have had asked our DPW to make sand and sand bags available to residents,” said Mayor Spano. “As always, we pre-plan to make sure that our flood mitigation efforts are already being implemented by DPW crews in certain low lying areas, but we also want to ensure our residents take the necessary precautionary steps in protecting their homes and property.”
