YONKERS, NY – August 17, 2018 – The City of Yonkers Department of Public Works (DPW) today announced major road repair of Central Park Avenue, southbound between Tuckahoe Road and the New York State Thruway. Yonkers’ Department of Public Works is expected to begin the road work Tuesday, August 21 and run through August 29, from 9AM-7PM.

Two of the three southbound lanes will be closed weekdays during the road repairs, with possible work on Saturday, August 25. The New York State Department of Transportation will assist in completing the project in September. All work is weather dependent.

“This project will provide motorists relief along one of our city’s most traveled arterials,” said Thomas Meier, Public Works Commissioner.  “Although road work can often hamper our daily routine, we will work to limit the inconveniences to our residents.  We greatly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during this time.”

Parking in designated work zones is strictly prohibited during construction times – 9AM to 7PM.  All vehicles illegally parked will be towed at the owner's expense.
