Preparations for Resurfacing Of Yonkers Avenue Expected to Begin Monday, August 20th
YONKERS, NY – August 14, 2018 -- Mayor Mike Spano, along with the City of Yonkers Engineering Department, today announced the preparations for road resurfacing of Yonkers Avenue, between Elm Street and Dunwoodie Street, is expected to begin the evening of Monday, August 20, weather permitting.
Initial work will consist of catch basin and manhole altering as well as ADA ramp reconstruction. The project will continue until the end of October. The resurfacing project will run Sunday through Thursday nights weekly, beginning at 8:00 PM, with work ending at 6:00 AM each morning. All work is weather dependent, with no paving taking place on days of heavy rain.
“This resurfacing project will greatly enhance Yonkers Avenue,” said Mayor Mike Spano. “Although road work can often hamper our daily routine, all of our City agencies, along with the New York State Department of Transportation, are working extremely hard to limit the inconveniences to our residents. We greatly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during this time.”
Resident parking in designated work zones is strictly prohibited during construction times -- 8:00PM to 6:00AM. All vehicles illegally parked will be towed at the owner's expense.
