Mayor Mike Spano Provides Update on Today’s Snowstorm
“We currently have nearly 50 plows operating in the City of Yonkers during this snowstorm. At this point, the Department of Public Works is focusing on the immediate plowing and salting of our main roads. As the snowfall is expected to end late this afternoon, we will begin the process of working on the secondary roads, followed by the dead end streets within the City. We ask that you avoid shoveling or plowing snow back into the streets – which slows down our plowing efforts. We ask our residents to stay off the roads, if possible, so we can clear them as fast as possible, and to check in on elderly and vulnerable neighbors who might need help. As of now, the Board of Education plans on Yonkers Public Schools being open tomorrow. However, please continue to check in for updates for possible school delays.
If you need assistance, I encourage our residents to call the Mayor’s 24-hour Hotline at 377-HELP (4357).
We thank you for your patience and appreciate your cooperation as we work hard during this storm. Stay safe everyone.”
