Today we celebrate the feast of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. In honor of this beloved and celebrated holiday, we turn our attention to the spirit and culture of the Irish people.
In Yonkers, we are blessed with an incredibly spirited, vibrant and growing Irish-American community that contributes to our diverse makeup and makes significant contributions to business, education and government in our City. Today we celebrate March 17 as a day of gratitude for Yonkers' thriving Irish community.
I hope you'll join me and thousands of residents and visitors to Yonkers this Saturday, March 19 at 1pm for the 61st Annual Yonkers St. Patrick's Day Parade. Located along McLean Avenue in the heart of the McLean Avenue business district, the parade and surrounding family-friendly activities is one Yonkers' most celebrated traditions. While you're there, be sure to stop in to the many great shops and restaurants McLean Avenue has to offer. No matter what your ethnic background is, we are all a little Irish today.
