Yonkers has adopted an ordinance sponsored by Council President Liam McLaughlin dubbed the 'Litter Free Streets Act of 2017' which will allow for the use of recorded images as evidence of littering or dumping. The item was passed at a special meeting of the City Council on Thursday.

  • Yonkers anti-litter contest winners announced

    YONKERS, NY - Yonkers officials, tired of seeing litter on city streets, have been taking action. Led by Council President Liam McLaughlin, the City has expanded its anti-litter campaign to area students by launching an anti-litter contest. The winners of the contest received awards at City Hall on Tuesday.

  • Council passes contracts for educators

    YONKERS, NY – The Yonkers City Council unanimously approved new long-term labor agreements with the Yonkers Council of Administrators (YCA) and the Yonkers Federation of Teachers (YFT) on Tuesday. The latter contract had been held up by the Council pending an agreement on the immediate implementation of an e-mail policy requiring teachers to respond to parent’s and administrator’s e-mails.
