John Rubbo is a lifelong resident of Yonkers who brings his experience to lead in business and government to the Yonkers City Council.
John was elected to his first term as Yonkers City Councilmember and was sworn in January 1, 2018 to represent the 4th Council District.
John is a small business owner who operates Yonkers Brewing Co. located on the Yonkers Waterfront. Bringing the perspective of a business owner to the Yonkers City Council will prove invaluable to businesses of all sizes.
John continues to support many local organizations in Yonkers and across the region. He has previously served on the Board of Directors’ of the Yonkers Police Athletics League as well as the Downtown Waterfront Business Improvement District. John believes that through civic engagement we can make Yonkers a better place.
The growing burden of unfunded mandates and municipal expenses cannot simply be placed on the backs of our taxpayers. John believes that a business approach to governing should be taken. We must take a strategic approach to increasing revenue. Attracting large employers to the City of Yonkers builds a foundation for a future tax base and creates jobs for our unemployed. This must accompany holding the line on reckless spending. As a City Council person, John will represent the taxpayers of Yonkers.
John will bring a strategic business approach to governing and will work with City Leaders to ensure we have a plan that does not only address current needs but the needs of our next generation of Yonkers residents and families.
John was selected with a bi-partisan vote to be the Chairman of the newly created Commerce and Smart Growth Committee and the Environmental Policy and Protection Committee; issues that are very important to John.
John and his wife Dawn, also a Yonkers native, live off of McLean Avenue with their two children, Dominic and John.
