The Office of Community Services: 

• Collects, updates, and disseminates information about human service providers within the city and throughout the surrounding communities to promote public awareness of these services & resources.
• Produces, maintains & provides a variety of resource directories based on types of services, providers, location of resources, etc.
• Provides information to the public & providers through a newsletter, on the internet, by phone and mail, about community events, sponsored by the City of Yonkers and outside organizations.
• Identifies, evaluates and addresses needs of the community and service providers to improve the quality of the services by offering technical and financial assistance through current grant & funding opportunities presently available.
• Partners & collaborates with many community based organizations, initiatives & committees to develop, operate, and coordinate programs, services and events.

The City of Yonkers Office of Community Services will ensure that all service needs are available and accessible to all members of the community by maintaining an open door policy to providers and the public.

To meet the needs of our community by taking ideas and turning them into action & results through the cooperative efforts of city government, service providers & the people of Yonkers, to improve the quality of life for everyone.

The Community Service Bulletin is our quarterly newsletter providing helpful information on upcoming local events, descriptions & services of city departments, employee news & notices, community based organization news & articles, and more!

Resource Directories:

CBO (Community Based Organizations) Directory
The City of Yonkers CBO Directory contains resource information of more than 90 local not-for-profit providers of community services and Yonkers area agencies, such as: Child Care, After School programs, Educational & employment programs, Housing assistance, Health care, Emergency food & shelter, Alcohol & Substance abuse treatment/services, Senior services, Youth programs, and much more.

It provides contact information, addresses, phone numbers, e-mail & website addresses and descriptions of each organization.

  Maps of 38 Yonkers neighborhoods, identifying local resources including schools, health facilities, child care centers, faith-based organizations and other community based organizations.

Projects:

The Office of Community Services maintains an active role by representing the City of Yonkers and the Mayor’s Office by participating in the following local projects, committees, and events (to name a few): 

• HYI (Healthy Yonkers Initiative) - A community partnership of citizens, public & private organizations working together to address health issues and the quality of life in the Yonkers community.
• Alcohol & Substance Abuse Task Force (sub-committee of HYI).
• Yonkers Community Health Coalition (sub-committee of HYI).
• ECI (Yonkers Early Childhood Initiative) - A collaborative effort of over 60 public & private organizations dedicated to fostering the well being of children from birth to age three.

• Yonkers Family Day
