MISSION STATEMENT

The Yonkers Fire Department has three missions: Fire Suppression, Fire Prevention and Fire Investigation. As first responders to fires, natural disasters, hazardous materials incidents, medical emergencies and other assistance as may be needed; the Yonkers Fire Department protects the lives and property of the citizens of Yonkers.

 A MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE FIRE COMMISSIONER

Fire fighting ranks as the nation’s most dangerous profession. America’s fire service personnel place their lives on the line everyday protecting the safety and property of their fellow citizens. As we move forward, in the aftermath of 9/11, the focal point of the Yonkers Fire Department is the health and safety of our Fire Officers, Firefighters and Citizens.
We address these issues through state-of-the-art training programs and have developed a labor/management team that addresses any man-made or natural disaster that poses a threat to our firefighters or our country. We hope that through these web pages we will be able to get our message out to members of the public. We believe that the fire service must take the initiative when it comes to public information and matters of safety for our citzens and members. Through this Web Site, the Yonkers Fire Department will continue to periodically publish useful, informative, fire safety and fire prevention tips for the general public. We are dedicated to providing your families with the necessary knowledge to help protect them from fire emergencies.
