CITY OF YONKERS ANNOUNCES WINTER STORM CANCELLATIONS & CLOSURES FOR THURSDAY, MARCH 8th

Yonkers, NY – March 7, 2018 – Due to the current Nor’easter conditions, Mayor Mike Spano today advises residents of the following City storm cancellations and closures:

 Cancellations & Closures:


  • Yonkers Recycling Center
  • All Senior Programs and Senior Centers
  • Day and Evening Recreation Programs at Parks Dept. Community Centers & Yonkers Public Schools.
  • Aquatics at Mark Twain 
  • Project Friendship/Young Adult Club
  • Pre-K Little Learners
  • Indoor Permit Holders at Yonkers Public Schools
  • Teen Recreation and Adult Open Gyms at Yonkers Public Schools
  • Morning Programs at the EJ Murray Skating Center

 

Warming Station:

·        Nodine Hill Community Center, at 140 Filmore Street, will serve as a Warming Center for Yonkers residents until further notice.  

Parking Restrictions:

·        Alternate side parking rules are suspended Thursday, March 8; however, residents are encouraged to park their vehicle(s) in their driveway or garage, where possible.

·        Metered parking will remain in effect on Thursday, March 8.

·        There is no parking on “Snow Emergency Routes.”  Vehicles may be towed at owner’s expense.  To view snow emergency routes, Click Here.

Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary and remove vehicles from city streets wherever possible.
