City of Yonkers Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade to be held on Monday, May 30, 2016

YONKERS, NY – May 26, 2016 -- Mayor Mike Spano today announced the City of Yonkers will again remember and honor veterans who sacrificed their lives for this country at its annual Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade on Monday, May 30, 2016.  The ceremony will start promptly at 9:00 am at the Veterans Memorial Plaza on the front steps of City Hall, located at 40 South Broadway.

The Memorial Day Parade will kickoff at 2:00 pm with a ceremony at Stillwell Park (McLean Avenue at 241st Street) and proceed along McLean Avenue to the Bajart American Legion Post 1172 located at 840 McLean Avenue.  A ceremony will conclude the parade at the Post with the placing of wreaths. 

“Memorial Day is an opportunity for all of us to recognize and thank our veterans in Yonkers and all across America for their patriotism and devotion, especially to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice,” said Mayor Spano. “Once again Yonkers renews its pledge to always honor and never forget its fallen heroes; I encourage our residents to come out and pay homage to the men and women who protect our great country.”
