Today we remember and honor Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., one of the world's greatest agents for social change. In his lifetime, Dr. King, Jr. led and bore witness to some of the Civil Rights Movement's greatest campaigns for equality. His words and his actions continue to inspire past, present and future generations of leaders and peacemakers.
As we remember the legacy of Dr. King, may we be called to action and find strength within ourselves to affect positive change in our community. By adhering to his message of nonviolence, equality, justice and peace, we can create a better future for ourselves, our families and our great City of Yonkers. It begins by asking ourselves what Dr. King described as "Life's most persistent and urgent question, what are you doing for others?"
